Since it’s a brand new year, I guess it’s time to set some goals!
To bring in the New year, my family decided to head up North to “play in the snow”. There ended up being a huge snow storm that caused road closures, almost zero visibility, and a slew of other headaches for where we were staying. Sadly, there was no chance of getting in the car and driving up to the mountain to go snowboarding or even build a snowman as we had planned.
However, being snowed in has an upside to it, especially before the New Year. As I was stuck in the cabin doing jumping-jacks for warmth (our heater was either broken, or could not handle the sub-zero conditions), there was not much else to do but think about life. So I began thinking of how I could change for the better in 2011…while sitting in my comfy meditation chair.
Just kidding. But here is what I have set my mind to achieve for this new year:
1. I have become a sleep addict, sadly. Therefore, I have set a goal to wake up around 9:00am everyday and kick my day off right with a good breakfast and a quick workout.
2. I am also suffering from a severe case of procrastination. Therefore, I will be trying very hard to start papers, projects, work related things, etc. earlier and not wait until the last minute! (This one will be tough)
3. I have had the Rosetta Stone Italian series for the longest time, but because of Number 2…I have not really gotten in to it. So this third goal is to have completed the entire Rosetta Stone Italian series before 2012 and hopefully become comfortable with the language.
4. And lastly (for now), I will focus on becoming a better friend, a more patient son, and of course, a more annoying brother 🙂
I leave you with a quote that I am choosing to live by throughout this new year,
“Today is the first day, of the rest of your life.” -Charles Dederich
I tend to forget that with each new breath that I take, I am given an opportunity to change for the better.
Happy New Year! And good luck with any resolutions of your own for 2011!
